Join a community on the move. The Osoyoos Indian Band of British Columbia is a First Nations community that has been recognized internationally as achieving economic self-sufficiency in a sustainable manner. With annual business revenue of $15 million, 10 businesses, partnerships and joint ventures, this community has become an exemplar of how to do business with First Nations.

Using the Osoyoos Indian Band best practices as a foundation, we have developed an innovative and interactive program that provides insight into the Osoyoos Indian Band experience. Set within the Nk’mip Resort, an example of a thriving community enterprise, the program immerses participants into the Osoyoos Indian Band’s community business model, while incorporating courses in Leadership & Entrepreneurship, Sustainable Economic Development, and Governance .

Our goal is to provide a real-world look at business development within Native communities that is balanced with sound business principles. Our partners in the development of the course material include the Udall Centre for Studies in Public Policy from the University of Arizona, Bainbridge Graduate Institute and Simon Fraser University, who provide an academic foundation of business practices.

The Centre for Aboriginal Community Enterprise is an intensive program that goes far beyond business-planning, and uncovers the secrets to a community driven business approach. This program will:

  • -Inspire a new generation of leadership in community entrepreneurship
  • -Provide a forum for exploring OIB’s approach to resolving poverty within their community.
